It’s a whiteboard Write and draw on the board like you would a regular dry erase board. Save notes on your phone, tablet and PC with a tap, erase and repeat. Everyone you invite sees whatever you jot down, erase and scribble on your SMART kapp® as it happens worldwide. Just walk up and start writing with a dry-erase marker. SMART kapp is the share-as-you-go whiteboard.

Write and draw on the capture board like you would a regular dry erase board. Both versions require a projector but you can usually get ultra short throw which makes the chance of shadows when working on them a bit smaller and taking a step away from the board will get you out of that. The SMART kapp 84' capture board enables you to collaborate with others in a simple yet powerful way. Smart whiteboards have a touch sensitive surface and work with the pens provided or your finger, they work well enough but like any touch device there are times you'll accidentally touch the board and the pointer will jump away. The Promethean boards are like traditional whiteboards but the pen acts as a mouse, pretty nice pieces of kit but more recent ones have been a bit buggy in my experience (could just be the school environment they are used in), the old ones are solidly built and I haven't seen on fail even after being dropped down a few stairs. How to use SMART.The education sector is big on these and the two main companies are Promethean and Smart.

I eventually got tired of those and just sent them to a separate folder though, as my inbox just got flooded and I found users would report issues to us anyways. Not really familiar with the SMART software yet.Edit: Oh and they could be connected to the network, where you could have them send emails if there was a failure or temp warning and whatnot. Software definitely seemed to be a step back from promethean's activeinspire/activstudio though. The other two elementary schools we just had standard VGA/stereo and RCA inputs right on the wall plate. Now the school I'm at has all SMART boards, the teachers seem to like them, but I definitely wish we had the setup here that we had at my previous school. Only issue I've had with them in 3+ years was one projector died (which Epson replaced) and one guy had an issue with pens cutting out.The only real common issue with the setup at the first school we did was the "rapid run" cables used some proprietary format going into the wall, and these got frayed and broken constantly. Would've loved them in the high school as well.

We have a bunch of labs and conference rooms all with these in them as well, if you'd like to know more. (Write on the board from the podium, etc)The ultra-short throw interactive projectors are by far my personal favorites, over any interactive "board" when you are already doing dry-erase.I can upload some pictures, answer questions etc. Smart has something exactly like this as well. This type is easier to mount, doesn't require installing a dumb "surface" and lets you retain the functionality of your existing dry-erase board, while still giving you interactive display.Smart has a version of this with a pen that works from 25ft away, but it's pretty gimmicky. (Also very old, but as they were pretty bad comparatively at the time, we never bought more).Tons of Smart Boards, but I'm a bigger fan of the non "board" type.We also have probably the same number of Epson BrightLink Interactive projectors, similar to these.
